Winemaker Notes
A very deep garnet red, almost black color. Aromas of black fruits with spices and ink overtones. Tannins are in the same time powerful and velvety. Smoky and pepper overtones express wonderfully the Syrah variety on granitic soil. According to the vintage, the wine can be kept from 30 to 60 years, indeed from 50 to 75 years.
Critical Acclaim
94+ Robert Parker Wine Advocate
A more near-term candidate for consumption is the 2007 Ermitage l’Ermite. It is a more austere, slightly less concentrated effort possessing notes of powdered rock as well as red and black fruits, full-bodied power, and a long finish. Anticipated maturity: 2017-2035.

Offers depth, length and character, with mouthfilling blackberry, raspberry and cherry fruit flavors supported by bright acidity. The long, minerally spine lets additional cherry pit, blood orange and espresso notes chime in. Still a touch raw in a youthful way, so let this settle in.
