Dr. George Crane settled in St. Helena in the 1850’s and began planting grapevines. By the 1870’s Crane had planted about 100 acres of vineyard and built a winery which would become one of Napa's greatest hallmark vineyards in history.
Andy Beckstoffer purchased a neighboring parcel in the early 1990’s which was part of Dr. Crane’s land, and has since marketed the grapes as Dr. Crane Vineyard.
Salvestrine's grapes come from the same vineyard they always have and also include the designation of the good Doctor.
The Napa Valley tier is a blend of Salvestrine's Dr. Crane St. Helena Estate fruit combined with fruit from their neighbors property.
