Winemaker Notes

This new red wine blend is produced from Suisun Valley, a remarkable AVA that has become the Wagner family’s second home. Like it’s close neighbor Napa Valley, Suisun Valley has ideal soils and climate for a variety of grapes. The Walking Fool is named after a long-ago relative who was often seen traveling by foot – thus earning this affectionate moniker. Featuring Zinfandel and Petite Sirah, this wine is smooth and lively, with juicy raspberry, notes of espresso and softly fine tannins.

WineSlash Notes

Caymus Vineyards is considered special for several reasons:

  1. Quality of wines: Caymus Vineyards is known for producing high-quality, highly-rated wines. Their main wine is the Caymus Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon, has received numerous accolades and high scores from wine critics and enthusiasts alike. It's made in a ripe-style that is considered dessert-like by many, think candy in the glass.

  2. Legacy and history: Caymus Vineyards is a family-owned and operated winery that has been producing wine in the Napa Valley since 1972. It was founded by the Wagner family, who have a long and storied history in the California wine industry.

  3. Commitment to sustainability: Caymus Vineyards is committed to sustainable farming practices and environmental stewardship. They have implemented a number of initiatives to reduce their environmental impact, such as using solar power to generate electricity and using cover crops to improve soil health.

  4. Innovation: Despite its traditional roots, Caymus Vineyards has also been innovative in its winemaking approach. For example, they were one of the first wineries in the Napa Valley to use micro-oxygenation, a technique that can help soften tannins and improve wine structure.

Overall, the combination of high-quality wines, a rich legacy and history, a commitment to sustainability, and a willingness to innovate have all contributed to Caymus Vineyards' reputation as a special and highly-regarded winery.
