"This red offers a core of plum, raspberry and red licorice notes, with juicy acidity supplying length on the finish. Extra perfumy spice and rooibos tea accents fill in the background."

While it may bear the designation of Cotes-du-Rhone we prefer to think of it as mini-Marcoux. Lithe and spicy, it is a Grenache-dominant cuvee from two sites just north of the boundary of Châteauneuf-du-Pape: Maucoil and Bois Lauzon. There are small and varying percentages of Mourvedre, Cinsault and Syrah added to the Grenache each vintage.

This wine is Chateauneuf du Pape without the classification. From a premier Chateauneuf du Pape producer and just north of the boundary of Châteauneuf-du-Pape - this is as close as it gets without the huge price tag. "While it may bear the “lowly” designation of Côtes-du-Rhône we prefer to think of it as mini-Marcoux. It is a Grenache-dominant cuvée from two sites."
"The 2011 Cotes du Rhone comes from a vineyard on the other side of the border of Chateauneuf du Pape. It displays pure raspberry and black cherry fruit in its elegant, mid-weight personality. It, too, should be drunk in its first several years of life. The Armenier sisters are beginning to feel comfortable with their biodynamic efforts in Lirac, where they purchased property several years ago. One of the classic family-owned domaines in Chateauneuf du Pape (of which there are many), Domaine de Marcoux is run by two dynamic sisters, Sophie and Catherine Armenier. The estate, which can trace its history back to 1344, has only been estate bottling since 1978. It owns over 40 acres, all of which have been biodynamically farmed since the early 1990s as this was one of the first properties to move to this strict style of farming."
