Only some Vineyards in Napa Valley have great stories. The Napa College vineyard story is one that I am intimate with. 20 years ago I graduated from the Napa College Viticulture and Wine program. This vineyard site, and all the college taught me launched me on a path of managing, designing and planting vineyards in Napa and Sonoma. When it came time to replant the Napa College Vineyard, the fabulous and legendary Steve Krebs, Viticulture Program Director at the College called on many of his graduate students to discuss and plan its future. I too was delighted to offer my advice. Cabernet Sauvignon, and other Bordeaux varietals were chosen carefully. This alumni “A “ team, who were then working for Mondavi, Stags Leap, and other great wineries from Napa and Sonoma, were assembled to create what has become a standout vineyard that makes exceptional Bordeaux style red wine.
What makes this Cabernet Blend different than the rest of the Napa Iconic wines? Simply, you will not find a vineyard anywhere that gets as much weekly attention and scrutiny. The students are out making sure every cluster is just so, and that leaf canopy is just right. You won’t find a Napa Cabernet with more elegance and depth than this one. It is truly the product of passion and deep attention to detail.
