95 Points

"The 2014 Bella-Boo Muscat Canelli offers invigorating aromas of ripe stone fruit, citrus, orange blossom, honey, and fresh-picked spring flowers. The flavors are bright and expressive, with lively notes of ripe melon, white peach, tangerine, grapefruit, fresh lime, racy acidity, and a long, crisp finish that makes you want more."
Chris Sawyer - Cert Somm

Winemaker Notes

"Our first Vineyard we sourced out of Lake County in Kelseyville, CA and the grape varietal we sourced was Muscat Canelli an Italian White Varietal of the Muscat Family it shows Apricot , and honey , and stone fruit, and citrus zest on the nose and palate. This wine was then put into stainless steel for fermenting at a low temp and taken to a dry style wine. This wine was made with the intention of pairing well with foods we enjoy like Thai, Indian, & Sushi and the rest of Asian cuisine. The wine finishes dry to clean the palate and relief of the heat."
Deano

“Bella-Boo” Muscat Canelli produced from Los Lomas Vineyard, Kelsey Bench, Lake County. Like the daunting lyrics the soul band The Persuaders and Chrissy Hynde of The Pretenders made famous, there is a thin line between love and hate. Same is true with the sweet, off-dry and dry styles of white wines made with the Muscat grapes, which have a tendency to be too syrupy and cloying if not picked at the right point.

Winemaker Dean Wilson took these thoughts to heart when he created his brilliant bone-dry style of the “Bella-Boo” white wine made with the Italian breed from the Muscat grape, Muscat Canelli. The grapes were grown at the Los Lamos Vineyard in the Kelsey Bench of Lake County. Located at the northwest end of Clear Lake, this grape growing region is known for its warm sunny days and its rapid cooling temperature in the late afternoon due to its inland location, high elevation (1,600 feet), and close proximity to one of the largest natural bodies of water in California. These unique climate conditions create grapes with thick skins and the winemaker’s dream of harvesting when the fruit is ripe and acidity is still fresh.
