"Deep, vivid crimson-purple; has taken full advantage of everything the '12 vintage had to offer; gloriously full, but supple and velvety/juicy red and black fruits, the tannins and oak joining with the fruit on the full-bodied, perfectly balanced, palate."

Fermented for 6-8 days, 6 pumpovers per day, matured for 18 months in new and used American oak, plus 6 months in bottle. Deep crimson-purple and full-bodied, sultry dark fruits guard the door, prised ajar on the finish by pleasingly edgy tannins and a twist of oak. Sure to flourish in the years ahead.
I have been drinking and loving Mr. Blackwell's wines for the last 10 years.......all big, bold, heavy oak and from someone from the Napa Valley who loves his Cabernet well to say I found a lot to love with Stuart's technically flawless winemaking style, varietal selections, and excessive use of high quality-extended oak treatment.
The selected vineyards for the ‘Blackwell’ Shiraz range in age from 10-15 years - and are sourced from the north-west corner of the Barossa Valley. In your glass you will have a deep red-purple colour with a crimson hue. On the nose dark cherries and plum aromas infused with oak nuances of mocha and vanilla. This confident aroma eludes to the complexity to follow. The palate is rich and generous, showcasing an array of ripe dark fruits on the front and mid palate. The ‘Blackwell’ is big and bold, and perfectly balanced, as all good Barossa Shiraz should. This 2014 ‘Blackwell’ Shiraz has tight tannins, a dense core of black-plums, dried spices and earthy undertones. These factors extend the persistence and intensity of the wine on a lingering dry finish. This 2014 St Hallett ‘Blackwell’ Shiraz has 14.5% Alc. Decant for 45-60 minutes - and serve in a generously shaped glass at 16-17°C. Big, bold and balanced, a classic Barossa Shiraz.
