Perinet’s flagship expression of Priorat
1194 brings together history, two sharply different estate sites, and a 375-case production in a wine built to show Priorat at full scale.
The name carries the story
1194 honors the year Carthusian monks established viticulture around Escaladei, linking Perinet’s modern flagship to Priorat’s earliest wine history.
Two estate faces
South-facing Mas Vell supplies perfumed Garnatxa; steep, east-facing Pendents brings earthy Carinyena and cooling Mediterranean influence.
Selected, not simply blended
The best estate blocks and barrel lots were chosen for the flagship, with 375 cases—4,500 bottles—produced in 2017.
95 points and Editors’ Choice
One exact-vintage review leads because it captures the wine’s power, polish, and unusually bright finish.
Six-Bottle Value Comparison
The same six-bottle unit is $420 at ShopWineSlash, $672 at the supplied average ex-tax price, and $840 at the winery-price display.
At $70 per bottle, the six-bottle allocation totals $420. The supplied $112 average ex-tax reference becomes $672 for the same six, while the $140 winery price becomes $840. That puts your allocation $252 below the average reference and $420 below the winery-price total—with every row normalized to the same quantity.

Secure Your AllocationDark fruit, aromatic spice, bright finish
1194 is broad and deeply fruited, but its freshness keeps the power moving and gives the finish real definition.
Perinet’s exact-vintage technical sheet describes an early, hot growing season that reduced yields, followed by late-summer rain that helped the canopy and sugar balance. The result was a fresh, approachable vintage despite the heat.
Blackberry, cassis, black cherry, and forest fruit give the wine its deep, generous center.
Roasted fennel, star anise, black pepper, rosemary, and earthy Carinyena add complexity.
Opulent, polished tannins support the fruit without dulling the wine’s lift.
Pomegranate and orange zest turn the finish bright, vivid, and unexpectedly fresh.
Built from Priorat’s historic grapes
The flagship centers Garnatxa and Carinyena, then uses large-format fermentation and new French oak to build scale and polish.
The blend: 60% Garnatxa, 37% Carinyena, and 3% Syrah. Garnatxa brings perfume and breadth; Carinyena supplies earth, acidity, and shape; Syrah adds a final dark accent.
The cellar: Eighty percent fermented in 600-liter large barrels and 20% in stainless steel, followed by 18 months in 100% new French oak large barrels.
The source: Mas Vell and Pendents give 1194 its contrast of sun, slope, rocky soils, and Mediterranean air. Review the exact 2017 technical sheet (opens in a new tab).
