The drinker
Cherry and pine first. Serve 55 to 58 F. Twenty minutes of air. Duck or salmon.
Ripe cherry and pine, then spice, stone, and silk
The 2022 pours dark ruby: ripe cherry, toasted pine, woodsy spice, licorice, kirsch, crushed stone, pressed violet. Silky tannin, medium-plus, not a jammy costume. The Gap wind keeps the fruit tight. Lees time gives the mid-palate.

A cool Gap year that still gave Pinot ripe cherry and spice. This 2022 is open now in Burgundy stems.
Ripe cherry, toasted pine, woodsy spice, licorice, kirsch, crushed stone, violet.
Medium-plus, silky, 35% new French oak, 15 months on lees.

Three clones in one ferment, then 15 months on lees
Roberts Road is a windswept Sangiacomo block at the base of Sonoma Mountain. Garrett Martin co-fermented Pommard with Dijon 115 and 777 so the wine is one Pinot, not a blender's trick after the fact. Thirty-five percent new French oak. Fifteen months on lees. The Gap does the cooling. The cellar keeps the silk.

This is a vineyard wine, not a metal-label Racing Series bottle. The site is on the label.
Serve 55 to 58 F in Burgundy stems. Duck takes the cherry. Salmon takes the spice.
A Petaluma house that bottles a neighbor's road
Buckler stayed in Petaluma. Sangiacomo has farmed the Gap for three generations. Roberts Road is that handshake.

Kevin and Debra Buckler opened Adobe Road in Petaluma in 2002. The cellar sits in the same wind that shapes this Pinot.
Sangiacomo is a grower name, not a slogan. Roberts Road sits at the base of Sonoma Mountain on the northern edge of the Gap.
The 2022 is that named-road Pinot: Pommard, 115, 777, a Petaluma bottle from Petaluma fruit.
Duck, then salmon
Petaluma Gap Pinot wants bird and a hard sear on fish. Duck fat takes the cherry. Salmon oil takes the pine and spice.
Two plates. One duck breast with cherry sauce. One crispy-skin salmon. Both can take Roberts Road Pinot.
Serve 55 to 58 F. Twenty minutes of air. Burgundy stems.
Duck Breast with Cherry Sauce
Duck fat and cherry for kirsch, ripe cherry, and silky tannin.
Why it works: Cherry in the sauce stays in the wine's fruit lane. Pinot tannin cuts the skin.

Crispy-Skin Salmon
Hard sear, lemon, and oil for Gap Pinot spice.
Why it works: Salmon oil cushions silk. Citrus keeps toasted pine lifted.
